Upgrading Equipment

Introduction

Once you have finished leveling up your character, the first thing you need to do is get yourself a basic set of equipment.

To do this, you need to approach the corresponding NPC in Novograd or in the Astral Academy.

In Novograd	In the Astral Academy

Open the dialogue window with the selected NPC and offer to trade with them. In the list of goods, select the Equipment Kit:

This item grants a starter set of equipment depending on the current tier. For example, if the server is currently on the Purple quality tier, then it will grant you Blue quality equipment, and so on.

Tip 📝

At the time this guide was written, the equipment was of Orange quality. So if you are reading this guide some time later, do not be alarmed if something does not add up 😉.

In addition to the equipment from the kit, you can obtain up to 7 equipment pieces of the current tier from the Astral, namely:

• Shoulders
• Gloves
• Belt
• Bracers
• Amulet
• Weapon
• Special Weapon

The remaining equipment pieces can only be obtained by upgrading your equipment with an Upgrade Scroll.

Upgrading

Congratulations, you have got yourself some new equipment, but if you look at other players, you may notice that their items are of much higher quality, for example, as in the screenshot below:

And naturally, you may have wondered — how do you go about further upgrading your equipment? To do this, you need to get yourself the following items:

• Amalgam
• Raw Material
• Pollen
• Combat Equipment Parts
• Combat Material

Do not forget about the corresponding tools:

Also, for distributing your equipment's stats, you will find the Insignia of Attack and Insignia of Defense useful. The recommended stat ratios are presented in the corresponding section.

Finding Items for Upgrades

The items listed above can be obtained by visiting the corresponding locations or participating in certain events:

1. Amalgam — obtained by visiting Battles, the Kingdom of Elements, and your Personal Allod.

2. Raw Material — obtained by visiting Battles, Astral Isles with the Selfless Help effect, and trading with the Merchant.

3. Pollen — by breaking down Raw Material using tools.

4. Combat Equipment Parts — obtained by visiting Astral Isles, and by buying Loot Chests from the Hasty Family NPC in Novograd:

   

5. Combat Material — by breaking down Combat Equipment Parts using the corresponding tools.

6. Tools:

   • Can be purchased from NPCs located next to the Artifact Anvil in Novograd or in the Astral Academy;
   • Created using professions (except for alchemy);
   • Purchased in the Boutique;
   • Purchased from the Hasty Family NPC for Battleground Emblems in Novograd;
   • Purchased from the NPC Nastasya Ushkuynikova in the Astral Academy;
   • Bought with Embrium and by completing the daily quest on your Personal Allod;
   • Completing Battle Pass quests.
   • By completing Heroic Adventures.

Upgrading Items with Insignias

After you have managed to gather everything needed to further upgrade your equipment, you may have questions about how this upgrade process actually works. It can be roughly divided into 2 stages:

1. Upgrading with the Upgrade Scroll — these scrolls can be created directly at the Artifact Anvil in Novograd or in the Astral Academy. They allow you to bring the quality of your equipment from the previous season up to the quality of the currently active season. To upgrade an item with this scroll, right-click the scroll, and then click on the equipment piece you want to upgrade.

   

2. Upgrading with Insignias of Attack and Defense — these insignias allow you to increase the amount of special stats on your equipment. Upgrading with insignias works as follows — right-click the insignia, and then click on the equipment piece you want to upgrade.

   

As you can tell from the screenshots above, every equipment piece has an entry called Stat Efficiency. This entry affects how many special stats your character can receive. By default, items from the basic equipment kit have a fixed efficiency percentage, but it can be increased using the previously mentioned insignias.

In addition, equipment that you obtain from the Astral or from Loot Chests has a random efficiency percentage, which will not exceed 70% efficiency for ordinary items. For cursed items, this value varies as follows:

• 70% efficiency — the item was obtained using Astral Keys.
• 75% efficiency — the item was obtained without using Astral Keys and with the Selfless Help effect.

You can achieve an increase in the Stat Efficiency entry in the following ways:

• from 50% to 100% — the upgrade is done using a Rare Insignia of Attack and a Rare Insignia of Defense, or at the Artifact Anvil. In the case of insignias, they can be created only using professions. In the case of the Artifact Anvil, you need to have Pollen and Amalgam in your inventory, as well as 1200 Gold. After that, approach the anvil, go to the Transformation tab, and select the item you want to upgrade. Be sure to select the special stat you need — attack (1) or defense (2).

  

• from 100% to 109% — the upgrade is done using a Legendary Insignia of Attack and a Legendary Insignia of Defense. This type of insignia is obtained as follows:

  • Purchased from the Hasty Family NPC in Novograd;
  • Purchased from the NPC Evgeny Loykov in the Kingdom of Elements;

• from 109% to 115% — the upgrade is done using a Wondrous Insignia of Attack and a Wondrous Insignia of Defense. This type of insignia is obtained as follows:

  • Purchased from the Hasty Family NPC in Novograd;
  • Purchased from the NPC Evgeny Loykov in the Kingdom of Elements;

• from 115% to 120% — the upgrade is done using a Draconic Insignia of Attack and a Draconic Insignia of Defense. This type of insignia can only be created using the Artifact Anvil.
